I am a U2 B.Sc. student at McGill University in Montreal, studying Biodiversity and Conservation. I am deeply interested in how humans can fit responsibly into the broader environmental systems we inhabit. My interests thus range from regenerative agriculture to climate change to wildlife management and beyond. I am most interested in applications of ecological concepts that minimize human impacts on local ecosystems and increase resilience to human-driven change. I am also completing two minors in computer science and statistics, which will equip me with relevant and powerful tools for my environmental pursuits.
My professional experience has, to date, come in the form of part-time jobs, mainly in kitchens. I have around five years of experience in restaurants, including three as a baker, one as a pizzaiolo, and one as a line cook. These jobs have helped me hone my organizational skills, my ability to work under pressure, and my capacity to work in a small team. I have also spent summers working with contractors, where I helped paint, build wooden decks, install AC units, tile, etc. Additionally, I volunteer weekly at my former high school as a math tutor, and occasionally participate in outdoor education courses as an assistant instructor for my former CEGEP.
Before attending McGill, I graduated from Vanier College, completing two degrees, one in natural science and one in music. Concerning the latter, I studied electric jazz bass, which is an ongoing interest. I perform regularly with two bands, one of which, Bread & Biscuits, I lead. My other interests include sports, namely hockey, soccer, basketball, judo, and outdoor activities (camping, hiking, climbing, etc.), as well as cooking and reading.
I deeply value tangibility in my work; as such, my long-term ambition is to work mainly on local scales, utilizing everything I have learned to improve the lives of humans and non-humans concretely.
